history

The castle was probably built on the Georgenberg in the second half of the 12th century . It was destroyed around 1305 and rebuilt in 1370 under Duke Friedrich von Teck .

In 1467, the Lords of Frundsberg took over the rulership of the village and the castle . The family was best known through Georg von Frundsberg , the "father of the Landsknechte ", who was born here. As a general , he went into battle for Emperor Maximilian I and Charles V.

From 1949/50 the Mindelburg served as a military hospital and hospital for the disabled. It has been leased to the W. Sachon publishing house since 1950.

Today, the Mindelburg looks like it did after its restoration in the years 1650 to 1670.

The 24 meter high keep with the stair tower attached to the side can be climbed as a lookout tower .

Next to the tower is the 27 meter deep castle well .
