Burgstall im Buschel

The Burgstall Im Buschel is located southwest of the district of Zell near Bad Grönenbach in the Unterallgäu district in Bavaria .

Geographical location

The castle cone of the hilltop castle stands on a Nagelfluh rock and is surrounded by a semicircular ditch about five meters wide. The building area forms a rectangle of around 15 to 25 meters.

history

The names of the Lords of Zell have not been passed down. In 1453 there is talk of the old castle in the Zeller parish . Presumably Zell belonged to the Theinselberg lordship . This is indicated by the same patronage of St. Afra of the churches in both places. The castle chapel St. Afra existed until the Thirty Years War . The Burgstall is now a listed building.

legend

A legend tells of an underground passage to Grönenbach and of lavish knights. Their castle sank because they are said to have dishonored holy images. Since then, the castle's treasures have been guarded by a poodle.
