The Wolfertschwenden castle stable is located southeast of the village of Wolfertschwenden in the Swabian district of Unterallgäu .
Geographical location
The castle stables of the Höhenburg are located directly on a steep slope at 774 m above sea level. NN above Wolfertschwenden. To the east it was protected by a ditch around 25 meters long. There was a wall behind the moat. The castle area originally measured 7 by 25 meters.
history
The castle in Wolfertschwenden was owned by the nobles von Wolfertschwenden, who lived in the castle in the 11th or 12th century. Documents are known from the year 973 Giselfried von Wolfertschwenden, 1099 Hawin von Wolfertschwenden and 1128 Juta von Wolfertschwenden. From 1170 the castle was the seat of the Ottobeuren servants . The Burgstall is now a listed building. A memorial stone with the following inscription is attached to the castle stable:
