Burgstall Eppishausen

The Burgstall Eppishausen is located on the same elevation in the municipality of Eppishausen in the district of Unterallgäu ( Bavaria ) as the Church of St. Michael and is a registered soil monument. The manorial house was located south of the choir of the existing church. It was built between 1475 and 1479 by Ulrich von Tanneck († 1513). Ulrich von Tanneck's grandson, Hans Michael, sold the place to Hans Walther von Hürnheim zu Kirchheim in 1540 . With that the place went to the Fugger in 1551 . In the 18th century the castle was still used as a stately hunters' house. The demolition probably took place towards the end of the 18th century. G. Kornmann writes in the news from Ursberg, 1804, that the castle was not far from the church on the right against the stairway on a hill and was surrounded by a thick wall, a part of which was only torn down 6 years ago.
