Burkhart Ebe
Karl Maria Burkhart Ebe (also: Burkhart Ebe-Kleinecke; born November 4, 1881 in Berlin , † February 16, 1949 in Radebeul ) was a German sculptor and sculptor .
Live and act
Burkhart Ebe was born as the son of the architect Gustav Ebe . He studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Berlin as a master student with Ludwig Manzel . Ebe was able to stay in Italy from 1911 to 1912 thanks to a scholarship from the Dr. Paul Schulze Foundation , and in Rome he stayed at the Villa Strohl-Fern , which he received as a prize for designing a fountain relief for the Academy. On this trip he met the art-loving Berlin wine wholesaler Fritz Kleinecke, with whom he became a close friend and who became his father-in-law.
In 1920 he moved with his family to Niederlößnitz , where Fritz Kleinecke had acquired the Villa Columbia at Mohrenstrasse 14/16. There he set up a studio workshop. Out of gratitude to his patron and father-in-law, Ebe later adopted the name Ebe-Kleinecke.
The wide range of his numerous works, especially in the Radebeul and Zittau area , include decorative reliefs on various buildings (for example a Luther relief at the entrance to the parish hall of the Kötzschenbroda parish hall ), statues, tombs, portrait busts (among others by the naturopath Friedrich Eduard Bilz , the art critic Alfred Kerr and the painter Paul Sinkwitz ), as well as small sculptures made of sandstone and artificial stone , bronze , marble , ceramics and porcelain . In the competition for the design of a war memorial in Neuhausen / Erzgeb. he received the first prize in 1922. Via a Dresden stonemason as a middleman, some of Ebe's works in connection with further purchases of works by other Central German sculptors from the Dresden anniversary horticultural exhibition in 1926 (6th Annual Show of German Labor ) also reached the park at Gut Schwaighof near Augsburg.
The sculptor Hermann Naumann was a student of Burkhart Ebe in 1946.
