Calico System was an American metalcore band from St. Louis , Missouri that was formed in 1998 and split in 2007. The band has performed with groups such as Hatebreed , Poison the Well , Open Hand , Hopesfall , Finger Eleven , Candiria , Sworn Enemy , Codeseven and Dredg during their career .

history

The band was formed in the summer of 1998. After the line-up had changed several times in the following two years, a permanent line-up was formed in 2001 with the singer Mark Owens, the guitarist Shawn Keith, the bassist Nick Schaflein and the drummer Erik Ramsier. In the same year, the EP Question the Answer was released , followed by the second EP Love Will Kill All in spring 2003 . This was followed by local concerts and tours through the US together with Hatebreed and Poison the Well before the group signed a contract with Eulogy Recordings . In autumn 2003, the debut album The Duplicated Memory was released . Then Rick Giordano joined the band as the second guitarist. In 2004 the band played with Evergreen Terrace , Haste , The Black Halos , Philmore , Across Five Aprils , Every New Day , Glasseater , Hawthorne Heights and Adair . In January and February 2005 the band went on tour through North America with Reflux , The Warriors and Deadsoil . The band then went to New Jersey to Big Blue Meenie Studios to record the album They Live , which was released in November. After the recordings, the band played together with Burning Season , before appearing with Haste the Day in the summer . In August the band performed with Nodes of Ranvier , followed by concerts with LoveHateHero , Chiodos and Odd Project in the winter . In December the band played together with Hand to Hand . After the album Outside Are the Vultures was released in 2007 , the band announced their breakup in July.

style

The debut album The Duplicate Memory is referred to as "Emocore with punk and metal (core) influences". The singing is partly guttural and partly clear. On They Live the band played punky metalcore, so that they can be classified between groups like Evergreen Terrace, Heaven Shall Burn and Atreyu . Outside Are the Vultures offered classic Metalcore, with the vocals changing again.
