Hell is going on again on the highway (alternatively: Highway 2 ) is the title of an action comedy (original title: Cannonball Run II ). It was produced in 1983 in the United States under the direction of former stuntman Hal Needham and is the sequel to the film All hell breaks loose on the highway .

action

Actually, it's not yet time for the Cannonball Run , the infamous illegal race from Connecticut to California . But Sheikh Falafel wants his son to do a brilliant job and win this race, so without further ado he puts a million dollars on the win. This immediately attracts an illustrious group of adventurers and the race can begin.

But not only a bunch of crazy racing drivers is attracted, the mafia boss Don Cannelloni is now after the money. He needs that to help his good-for-nothing son Don-Don financially, as he is threatened by the gangster Heimchen and his gang because of his debts. It is practical that the Sheikh has the prize money with him in his Rolls-Royce - so Don Cannelloni's people kidnap him to the Pinto Ranch, Little Don-Don's home. The other racing drivers feel cheated of their prize money and declare the Pinto Ranch to be their new destination. There it comes to the grand finale, which Frank Sinatra decides in the end.

Remarks

  • The film was indeed by the critics panned , but was commercially quite a success.
  • Hal Needham managed to reunite The Rat Pack for this film .

criticism

“Continuation of the 1981 box office hit that looks like a bad home movie. An amateur action comedy. What a waste!"

- Leonard Maltin's Movie and Video Guide

"Continuation of the hit film" Hell is going on on the highway ", which follows the well-known patterns. The episodes peppered with fast cars, some movie quotes and self-portraits from famous stars offer more boredom than entertainment ”
