Carl von Giech
Franz Friedrich Carl Graf von Giech (born October 29, 1795 in Thurnau , † February 2, 1863 in Nuremberg ) was a Bavarian politician.
origin
His parents were Carl Christian Ernst Heinrich von Giech (1763-1818) and his wife, Countess Caroline von Schönburg-Wechselburg (1766-1836). His brother Hermann (1791–1846) was married to Henriette vom und zum Stein (1796–1865), a daughter of the Prussian minister Freiherr Karl vom und zum Stein .
Life
Giech studied law in Heidelberg from April 1811. He entered the Bavarian administrative service and became government director in Würzburg and commissioner of the university, then from 1838 district president of Middle Franconia in Ansbach, but resigned from the civil service in 1840 and laid out the motives for this step in a published one addressed to the king without his knowledge Memorandum (Stuttgart 1840).
He drew even more attention through his views on state and public life (2nd edition, Nuremberg 1843). He , who was also a Protestant, took a lively journalistic part in the knee-flexion controversy (a decree from the Bavarian Minister Karl von Abel , who also wanted to force the Protestant soldiers to K. in 1838, as he took a great interest in the affairs of the Protestant Church in general put the day.
In 1848 he was a member of the preliminary parliament , became a member of the Frankfurt National Assembly and was also a member of the Bavarian Estates Assembly this year and the following, although he rejected the election of President of the First Chamber . Later he appeared repeatedly in the meetings of the Reichsrat in a liberal sense, for example in 1861 on the Electoral Hesse question and on the question of residence and trade law of Jews.
For the house of Giech he drafted the house law in the dynasty of the Counts and Lords of Giech (1855), which was exemplary for such conditions. In 1857 he founded one of the oldest public castle museums in Bavaria, the Gräflich Giech family collections in Thurnau Castle .

He married Franziska von Bismarck (1813–1872) in Karlsruhe in 1830 , a daughter of the Oberhofmarschall Johann Heinrich Ludwig von Bismark . The couple had a son and three daughters:
