history

Casabauc was one of the traditional empires of Timor ruled by a liurai . Governor José Celestino da Silva led an offensive against Lalawa, Casabauc and other neighboring empires in March 1895 to finally subdue them for Portugal . The Liurai of Casabauc continued to have power and influence over its population. Liurai Saneti is said to have punished people who did not do their work in the fields in 1974

During the preparations for independence from the colonial power Portugal in 1975, FRETILIN tried to recruit residents for their party. Instead, two residents joined the UDT and many joined the APODETI . A short time later there was civil war in the country between UDT and FRETILIN. The victorious FRETILIN arrested APODETI supporters in Casabauc and recruited several residents for her military arm, the FALINTIL .

East Timor was occupied by Indonesia at the end of 1975 . Many residents were forcibly relocated by the occupying forces for better control. The Bunak in the lowlands of Casabaucs came from northern Sucos Cova Limas, such as Fatululic and Taroman . The official goal was a development program for rice cultivation. There were resettlement camps at the end of 1979 in Casabauc and Cawa Uman, among others.

politics

In the elections of 2004/2005 was Quintino Cardoso elected Chefe de Suco and in 2009 re-elected.
