Charles Jacob "Charley" Brock (* 15. March 1916 in Columbus , Nebraska ; † 25. May 1987 in Green Bay , Wisconsin ) was an American American Football- and trainers in the National Football League (NFL).

Player career

College career

Brock attended high school in his hometown from 1932 to 1935 . There he played basketball and athletics in addition to American football . In the discus , Brock was national champion, in 1933 he was appointed to the basketball team of Nebraska. From 1936 to 1939 Brock studied at the University of Nebraska , where he also played American football. In 1937 Charley Brock was voted All-American and represented his college two years later in the College All-Star Game and the East-West Shrine Game.

Curly Lambeau

Professional career

Charley Brock was in 1939 by the Green Bay Packers in the second round at the 24th spot drafted . The Packers were trained by Curly Lambeau and had numerous all-pro players such as Arnie Herber , Don Hutson and Cecil Isbell in their ranks. Brock won the NFL championship with his team in the first year . In the final, the New York Giants were beaten 27-0. In 1941 the Packers failed in the final at the Chicago Bears with 33:14. In 1944 Brock was able to win the second championship with his Packers. Brook ended his career as a player in 1947.

Coaching career

Brock became an assistant coach at his old college in 1948 and returned to the Packers after a year as an assistant to Lambeau. After his coaching career, he continued to work for the Packers, most recently as responsible for the club's youth work. Brock died in Green Bay and is buried there in Fort Howard Memorial Park .

Honors

Charley Brock has been voted All-Pro five times . He played in three Pro Bowls , the final game of the season's best players. Brock is a member of the 1940s NFL All-Decade Team , the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame , the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame, and the Nebraska High School Hall of Fame.
