Chaunté Lowe ( Chaunté LaTasha Lowe, née Howard ; born January 12, 1984 in Templeton , California ) is an American high jumper . She brought her best international performance at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . There she won a bronze medal.

In 2004 she was eliminated from qualification at the Olympic Games in Athens .

The following year she improved her personal record to 2.00 m at the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005 and won the silver medal behind Kajsa Bergqvist . In 2006 she was both indoors and outdoors US champion and came in eighth place at the World Indoor Championships in Moscow .

After a baby break, she returned to the competition in 2008 and qualified by winning the US eliminations for the Olympic Games in Beijing , in which she was initially sixth. Because of the doping offenses of the Russians Anna Vladimirovna Tschitscherowa and Jelena Slessarenko, as well as the Ukrainian Wita Palamar , she subsequently received the bronze medal.

In 2009 she was again US champion and sixth at the World Cup in Berlin .

In 2010 she won bronze at the World Indoor Championships in Doha and set an event record with 2.04 m at the 21st International Lusatian Athletics Meeting. At the US championships she not only won the title in the high jump again, but also came second in the long jump .

In 2012 Lowe increased her personal best in the hall to 2.02 meters and won the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul . At the Olympic Games in London she was sixth.

During the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , Lowe came fourth in the high jump with 1.97 m.

Chaunté Lowe is 1.75 m tall and weighs 59 kg. She is trained by Nat Page. On August 21, 2005 she married the triple jumper Mario Lowe. The following year she graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in economics . On July 30, 2007, she gave birth to a daughter.
