Christopher "Chris" Gloster (born July 28, 2000 in Montclair , New Jersey ) is an American football player on the position of a defender .

Club career

Started his career in the United States and Germany

Chris Gloster was born on July 28, 2000 in the township of Montclair, New Jersey. Here he grew up, appeared from 2007 to 2011 for the youth training club Montclair United SC and attended Montclair High School , where he was also a member of the school football team. In 2011 he joined the New Egypt Bohemians and also played for FC Jersey Galacticos at the same time . While he left the former team in 2012, he was a member of the Galacticos until 2013, before moving to the youth department of the major league soccer franchise New York Red Bulls . At the Red Bulls, he went through all age groups and was continuously called up to the junior national teams of the US American Football Association . In the 2015/16 season he was a member of the U-15 / U-16 academy team and played twelve games in regular time for these; then there were also three appearances in the play-offs.

For the 2016 game year , he was briefly assigned to the New York Red Bulls II , the second professional team in the MLS franchise, with operations in the then third-rate United Soccer League (USL). There he made his professional debut on August 13, 2016 in a 5-1 home win over Orlando City B , when he was in action from the start and was replaced by Ben Mines in the 87th minute of coach John Wolyniec . In his debut game, at the age of 16 years and 16 days, he was the youngest player from the beginning in the history of the USL. At the New York Red Bulls II, which subsequently emerged as champions of the United Soccer League in 2016, he was then no longer included in any further league games and spent his time in the youth department again, where he was rarely used. The US Soccer Development Academy shows only three championship appearances for Gloster's U-17 / U-18 team in the 2016/17 season.

After convincing in a two-week trial training session, Chris Gloster was signed by Hannover 96 in March 2018 for the following 2018/19 season . With the Hanoverians he should find his way into professional football via the A-youth and the second team. For this reason, academy director Michael Tarnat initially used him in parallel with the A-Juniors. Until the end of October 2018, he played 4 times in the A-Juniors Bundesliga . In the second team Gloster came over the entire season to 16 missions in the fourth-class Regionalliga Nord .

For the season 2019/20 moved Gloster to the first team of Mirko Slomka , which in the pre-season in the 2. Bundesliga was staying, but left the club after the second matchday without being used.

Professional footballer at PSV Eindhoven

Gloster's move to PSV Eindhoven was confirmed on August 9, 2019 . The US international junior player will initially be part of the second team that will compete in the Eerste Divisie - the second division in Dutch professional football.

National team career

Gloster gained his first experience in a national team of the US Football Association in the summer of 2014 when Brian Johnson brought him to the US U-14 team. Under John Hackworth , he made it to the US U-15 national team in December of the same year , for which he also played several times in 2015 and, among other things, took part in a small tournament in November 2015. Gloster was already in action in the US U-17 squad, also trained by Hackworth, in January 2016 . In April 2016 he was appointed to the U-17 national team for two friendly internationals against Canada and subsequently also used in both games. In May he was part of the 23-strong squad that took part in the AIFF Youth Cup in Goa , India . At this tournament Gloster came to regular appearances and moved into the final with the team; However, this was lost with 1: 2 after the extension against the age colleagues from South Korea . After further appearances in August and September 2016, the young defender also made regular appearances in training camps and friendly international matches in October, November and December. Gloser started 2017 with a pre-season call-up in Bradenton , Florida in January. A training camp that took place between the end of February and the beginning of March 2017 and was attended by the defensive player was followed in March by the call to the preparatory games before the start of the U-17 World Cup qualifiers.

The following April and May, he was a member of the 20-strong US player levy, which at the CONCACAF U-17 Championship of 2017 in Panama participated. In the tournament he made it with his team to the final and was only defeated by the Mexicans of the same age on penalties ; Gloster played five of the six international matches in his home country throughout the tournament. With this placement in the CONCACAF Cup, the Americans made it into the U-17 World Cup in India in 2017 . Before that, he prepared for the World Cup with the U-17 juniors and took part in international tournaments and other friendly matches in June and July 2017. In August he took part with the team in a World Cup preparation camp and played a few games in the Václav Ježek memory tournament before he was called up by Hackworth on September 21, 2017 in the 21-man squad for the World Cup finals in India. After Hackworth had brought him into the 21-man squad of these finals, the young defensive player was used in all five games of his team. After a third place in Group A and the associated move into the knockout phase, the team was eliminated after a 5-0 victory over Paraguay in the round of 16 in the subsequent quarter-final match against the English U-17 selection . As in the preparation for the World Cup, he was used again in some friendly matches after this.

In January 2018, he was already a member of the US U-19 squad and took part with it in a training camp in Lakewood Ranch , Florida, which included 153 players from the US junior national teams. In a tournament in Slovakia in May 2018 , Gloster appeared for the first time as team captain and finished the tournament with the Americans in third place. The top scorer with five goals from four games was his future teammate in the Hanover youth team, Sebastian Soto . Gloster's first call -up to the United States ' U-20 national team took place in July 2018 , taking part in a training camp in North Carolina under U-20 national coach Tab Ramos .
