Chris Holt (born June 5, 1985 in Vancouver , British Columbia , Canada ) is a former American ice hockey goalkeeper who was most recently under contract with the Braehead Clan in the Elite Ice Hockey League .

Career

Chris Holt began his career as an ice hockey player with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program , for which he was active in the junior league North American Hockey League in the 2002/03 season . The goalkeeper then attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha for two years and played for their ice hockey team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . From 2005 to 2008 he was under contract with the New York Rangers , who had selected him in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft in the sixth round as a total of 180 players. For the Rangers, however, he only played a single game in the National Hockey League in the 2005/06 season , while he spent the rest of the time with their farm teams , the Hartford Wolf Pack from the American Hockey League and the Charlotte Checkers from the ECHL .

Between 2008 and 2010 Holt was with the NHL teams St. Louis Blues and Ottawa Senators under contract, but could not prevail in both and only played another game in the NHL for St. Louis in the 2008/09 season . Mainly he was used during this period for the Peoria Rivermen and Binghamton Senators in the AHL, as well as the Alaska Aces and Elmira Jackals in the ECHL. For the 2010/11 season , the American was signed by Dinamo Riga from the Continental Hockey League and completed two seasons with Dinamo.

From the end of June 2012 Holt was under contract with Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg , before he was given to HK Donbass Donetsk in January 2013 in exchange for a third-round vote for the KHL Junior Draft 2014 . After extending his contract with the Ukrainians at the beginning of March 2013, Holt terminated his current contract with HK Donbass in August of the same year for personal reasons. HK Donbass signed Michael Leighton instead . After his contract ended, Holt was without a club for a year before he joined the Italian club Ritten Sport in August 2014 , where he replaced Chris Mason in goal after he had migrated to Germany. During his twelve months without a club, however, from March 2013 he worked as an assistant coach or goalkeeper coach for the Lincoln Stars junior team in the USHL . After only eleven league appearances with the Italians, the American moved to Orli Znojmo on December 1, 2014 , where he was supposed to compensate for the departure of the Slovak Tomáš Tomek , whose contract was terminated the same day.

International

For the USA , Holt took part in the U18 World Junior Championship in 2003 . In this he was between the posts in two games and had a goal against goal of 2.00 with a catch rate of 93.9%.
