Christian Freuding
Christian Freuding (born August 20, 1971 in Weiden in the Upper Palatinate ) is a Brigadier General of the Army of the German Armed Forces and since September 6, 2019 Brigade Commander of Panzerlehrbrigade 9 in Munster .
Military career
Training and first uses
Freuding stepped 1990 in the armed forces and was as officer candidates in the tank reconnaissance instruction battalion 12 in boars and at the Panzertruppenschule in Munster for officer formed. He then studied political science at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg . In 1998 he was employed as a platoon leader in tank reconnaissance battalion 3 in Lüneburg and in 2000 as a company commander of the 2nd company of the same battalion. In 2003 Freuding became the lecture hall director for NCO and officer training at the armored troop school in Munster.
Service as a staff officer
From 2004 to 2006 Freuding took part in the National General Staff Course at the Command Academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg, where he was trained as an officer in the General Staff Service . He graduated from the course, at that time with the rank of major , as the best of his year, which is why he was honored with the General Heusinger Prize . Then Freuding served as a G3 staff officer (training and exercise) of the 14th Panzer Grenadier Division in Neubrandenburg . In 2008 he took part in the Advanced Command and Staff Course at the Joint Services Command and Staff College in Shrivenham in the United Kingdom . Back in Germany in 2009 Freuding became a consultant for European defense policy and a staff officer at the head of the planning team at the Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg) in Berlin . Thereupon he took over the command of the reconnaissance training battalion 3 in Lüneburg in 2012 as battalion commander . After almost two years as a commanding officer, he moved back to the BMVg in 2013 to work as an advisor to the inspector general's assistant and the inspector general's deputy in Berlin. From 2014, Freuding was deputy adjutant and adjutant to the Federal Minister of Defense, during this time mainly Ursula von der Leyen , in Berlin.
Service as a general
On September 6, 2019, Freuding took over the leadership of Panzerlehrbrigade 9 from his predecessor Ullrich Spannuth , who moved to the Munster training center as commander . He was promoted to Brigadier General in this post in June 2020.
Assignments abroad
In 2002, Freuding was the company commander of the Stabilization Force ( SFOR ) unit in Bosnia and Herzegovina and, from 2007 to 2008, chief of staff at the Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) of the International Security Assistance Force ( ISAF ) in Kunduz , Afghanistan .

Freuding is married and has two children. 1999 doctorate he at Michael Staack at the Helmut Schmidt University / University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg to Dr. phil.
