Church of the Province of Myanmar
The Church of the Province of Myanmar is a member church of the Anglican Communion and has approximately 42,000 believers. Its origins lie in the missionary activity of the 19th century, but it experienced its first crisis with the declaration of Buddhism as the state religion, which involved the expulsion of all foreign missionaries. In 1970 it became an independent church community with 6 dioceses (Hpa-an, Mandalay , Myitkyina, Sittwe, Toungoo, Yangon (Rangoon)), headed as the primate of the Archbishop of Burma (seat: Rangoon).
