Reformed Episcopal Church of Spain
The Reformed Episcopal Church of Spain , also Spanish Reformed Episcopal Church ( Spanish Iglesia Española Reformada Episcopal ) is a member church of the Anglican Community and is in ecclesial communion with the Old Catholic Churches . The Reformed Episcopal Church of Spain is also a member of the Porvoo community and has agreed full church fellowship with these churches . The Mozarabic rite (also called Mozarabic liturgy, Visigoth liturgy or old Spanish liturgy) is the liturgical rite of the (Anglican) Reformed Episcopal Church in Spain.
The Episcopal Church has its origins in the activity of a former Roman Catholic priest who began his ministry in 1880 under the supervision of the Anglican Bishop of Mexico . Already in 1894 with its own bishop, the Reformed Episcopal Church of Spain was subordinate to the Primate of the Church of Ireland . In 1980 it became independent as a so-called extra - provincial church and since then has been subordinate to the Archbishop of Canterbury as a primate.
Today the Reformed Episcopal Church of Spain, whose territory is limited to Spain, has a bishop, 21 priests , including a woman , and four deacons .
The Reformed Episcopal Church of Spain is a member of the World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Conference of European Churches (CEC).
