The Episcopal Church of the Sudan is a member church of the Anglican Communion in Sudan .

The first missionary activities began in 1899 and soon led to the establishment of a diocese of Sudan , which was subordinate to the Archbishop of Jerusalem . In 1974 the diocese was taken out of the Jerusalem Church Federation and placed under the supervision of the Primate of Canterbury , who gave it independence in 1976.

Today the Episcopal Church of the Sudan has its own primate , namely the Archbishop of the Episcopal Church of the Sudan and Bishop of Juba in South Sudan , where the headquarters of the Church is also located. The fourth incumbent is Daniel Deng Bul Yak .

The church is a member of the World Council of Churches (WCC), the All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) and the Middle East Council of Churches . An agreement on church fellowship for the Reformed Episcopal Church has existed since 2011, also with the Anglican Church in America , which was founded in 2008 , after ties to the Episcopal Church of the United States of America were severed.

The Episcopal Church of Sudan consists of 31 dioceses in 2 countries:
