Aydıncık

Cide is a town and capital of the district of the same name in the northwest of the Turkish province of Kastamonu in northern Anatolia . Cide is located on the Black Sea coast and about 85 km (as the crow flies) northwest of the provincial capital Kastamonu . The Küre Dağları mountain range runs in the hinterland.

The district borders on Doğanyurt County in the east, Şenpazar County in the southeast and Pınarbaşı County in the south. In the west, the Bartin province forms the border. The river Devrekani Çayı flows through the district in a northerly direction and flows into the sea five km west of the district town.

The D010 trunk road runs along the coast past the town of Cide. The D759 ( Kastamonu – Cide Yolu ) begins in Cide and leads inland to the provincial capital Kastamonu, 134 km away.

At the end of 2018, the district consisted of the district town (43.3% of the district's population) and 75 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 176 residents. The population numbers range from 434 ( Gökçeören ) to 34 ( Himmetbeşe ). In 2018, six former villages were elevated to districts (Mahalle) of the district town: Gebeş , Kalafat , Kasımköy , Sipahi , Sofular and Tarakçı . The population density (35.8) is slightly above the provincial average of 29.3 inhabitants per km²
