Compared to the cast
In the film, the main role of Cher was played by Alicia Silverstone . Julie Brown's role in the movie was Coach Millie Stoeger , but in the TV series she was called Coach Millie Deemer . In addition, Sean Holland only had a very small role in the film called Lawrence , in the television series he played one of the main roles ( Sean Holiday ). Tai, who plays a major role in the gang in the film - played by Brittany Murphy - appears in the series only in three episodes of the first season and is played by Heather Gottlieb . Murphy plays in episode 10 of season 1 Green light for Cher ( Driving Me Crazy ) the role of Jasmine . In the film, Cher's stepbrother Josh was portrayed by Paul Rudd and appeared to have a romantic relationship with her, but in the series, where David Lascher played Josh, this storyline was not taken up. Rudd, for his part, appeared in a supporting role in the series: Sonny in episode 9 of Season 1 Sonny and Cher ( I Got You Babe ). Cher's father - played by Dan Hedaya in the film - appeared to have become kinder and more human in the series, played by Michael Lerner and then Doug Sheehan . Cher also drives for the first time in the series and has theory lessons, but already had a driving test in the film.
Another mistake that breaks the plot connection between the film and the television series is the fact that Dionne and Murray were obviously sexually active in the film, and Dionne is suddenly a virgin again in the series. Also, Cher is caring and positive in the series, while in the film she appeared to be very selfish and pessimistic.
