The Communauté de communes des Vallées de Thônes is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté de communes in the Haute-Savoie département , whose administrative headquarters are in Thônes . Around the town it comprises several side valleys that belong to the mountain ranges of the Bornes Alps and Chaîne des Aravis . The community association was founded at the end of 1993 and replaced a SIVOM . It currently consists of twelve municipalities and has 19,018 inhabitants (as of 2015) on an area of ​​349.67 km ² , its president is Gérard Fournier-Bidoz.

The community association determines the housing policy. He operates the garbage collection and disposal as well as the school bus service. The association also supports sporting events. He is also responsible for the expansion of the telecommunications and data transmission networks in his area.

Historical development

With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipality of Entremont became part of the Commune nouvelle Glières-Val-de-Borne ( Communauté de communes Faucigny-Glières ). As a result, the number of inhabitants and the total area of ​​the association decreased.
