The Communauté de communes du Haut-Chablais is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté de communes in the Haute-Savoie department , whose administrative headquarters are in the town of Le Biot . Its area includes almost the entire valley of the Dranse , also called Vallée d'Aulps , including its side valleys. It begins a few kilometers southeast of Thonon-les-Bains and extends up the valley to the border between France and the Swiss canton of Valais in the Pas de Chavanette area . The community association consists of 15 communities and has 12,530 inhabitants (as of 2015) on an area of ​​309.3 km ² . Jacqueline Garin is the president of the community association.

history

The first community association in the Dranse Valley was the Communauté de Communes de la Vallée d'Aulps , founded at the end of December 1994 with the nine communities La Forclaz, La Vernaz, La Baume, Le Biot, Seytroux, Saint Jean d'Aulps, Montriond, Essert- Romand and La Côte d'Arbroz. On January 1, 2014, six more municipalities were added that had not previously been a member of any communauté de communes, namely Morzine, Les Gets, Bellevaux, Lullin, Vailly et Reyvroz. The name was changed to Communauté de Communes du Haut-Chablais. As a result, three of the larger winter sports resorts of the Portes du Soleil , namely Avoriaz, Les Gets and Morzine, belong to the municipality .

tasks

The compulsory skills include the development and promotion of economic activities as well as spatial planning based on a Schéma de Cohérence Territoriale . The community association determines the housing policy. In environmental matters he operates the sewage disposal (partially), the garbage collection and disposal and is responsible for the water protection of the Dranse and its tributaries. He also runs the road maintenance service , the emergency services, the school transport and the inter-municipal bus connections. In addition, the association builds and maintains cultural and sports facilities and promotes events in these areas.
