The Communauté de communes du Genevois is a French association of communes with the legal form of a Communauté de communes in the Haute-Savoie département , with its administrative headquarters located in Archamps . Its 17 member communities are located in the historical province of Genevois and form a narrowly delimited territory between the national border with Switzerland in the north, Mont Salève in the east, Mont Sion in the south and the Montagne de Vuache ridge and the Rhone in the west. The economic development, population development and infrastructure in the area of the municipal association are strongly influenced by the proximity to Geneva . The association of municipalities, founded at the end of 1995, has 43,394 inhabitants (as of 2015) on an area of 151.4 km 2 , its president is Pierre-Jean Crastes.
The competencies required include the development and promotion of economic activities and tourism as well as spatial planning on the basis of a Schéma de Cohérence Territoriale . The community association determines the housing policy. In environmental matters , he operates the water supply, sewage disposal, waste collection and disposal and is responsible for water protection (here relating to Aire and Drize ). He also operates local public transport and school bus services. In addition, the association builds and maintains cultural institutions, promotes events in this area and supports extracurricular activities.
