Vers is a French commune in the department of Haute-Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes .
geography
Vers is located at 680 m , about 16 kilometers southwest of the city of Geneva (as the crow flies). The village extends in a panoramic location with a view of the Geneva basin on the northern slope of Mont Sion, in the Genevois .
The area of the municipality of 5.91 km² covers a section of the Genevois. The community area extends in the headwaters of several brooks that flow to the Laire . To the south, the area extends up the meadow-lined slope of the Montagne de Sion. Vers's highest elevation is reached on the wide ridge at 818 m . To the west, the municipality extends into the Bois des Raynauds .
In addition to the original village, Vers also includes the hamlet settlements of Bellossy ( 620 m ) and Les Maisons Neuves ( 633 m ) on the northern slope of the Montagne de Sion. Neighboring communities of Vers are Viry in the north, Présilly and Andilly in the east, Cernex , Minzier and Jonzier-Épagny in the south and Chênex in the west.
Attractions
The village church of Vers was built in the neo-Gothic style. The Notre Dame des Voyageurs chapel is located on the parish grounds.

With 893 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) Vers is one of the small communities in the Haute-Savoie department. Since the early 1970s, thanks to the attractive residential area, there has been continuous population growth.
Economy and Infrastructure
Vers was a predominantly agricultural village well into the 20th century . Today there are some local small businesses. A large number of employed people are also commuters who go to work in the larger towns in the area, especially in the Geneva-Annemasse area.
The place is well developed in terms of traffic. It is located near the D992 departmental road that leads from Saint-Julien-en-Genevois via the Montagne de Sion to Seyssel . Further road connections exist with Valleiry , Andilly, Feigères and Chavannaz .
