In the course of the 19th and 20th centuries, the population decreased continuously due to strong emigration (in 1861 there were still 275 inhabitants in Musièges). Since the beginning of the 1980s, however, there has been a significant increase in population.
Economy and Infrastructure
Musièges is still a predominantly agricultural village today . Musièges is located in the Savoie wine-growing region . White wines made from the Altesse grape variety (locally called Roussette ) may be marketed under the protected designation of origin Roussette de Savoie . The AOC Vin de Savoie applies to white wines of other grape varieties and red wines .
There are also some local small businesses. A large number of workers are commuters who work in the larger towns in the area as well as in the Annecy and Geneva-Annemasse area.
The village is off the main thoroughfares, but is easily accessible from the main road N508, which runs from Annecy to Bellegarde-sur-Valserine . Further road connections exist with Contamine-Sarzin and Chaumont. The closest connection to the A40 motorway is around 13 km away.
