Nangy is a French commune in the department of Haute-Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes .
geography
Nangy is located at 476 m , about 14 kilometers east-southeast of the city of Geneva (as the crow flies). The village extends in the Arve valley , on a plateau sloping slightly south towards the Arve.
The area of the 4.35 km² municipal area includes a section of the lower Arvetal. The southern border is formed by the Swiss stone pine, which is cut around 30 m into the surrounding plateaus in a valley. From the Arve the communal soil extends northward over the gravel plain of Nangy. At the height of La Coulaz , the highest point of Nangy is reached with 530 m .
Various hamlet settlements belong to Nangy, including Boringes ( 462 m ) on a hill above the Arve. Neighboring communities of Nangy are Bonne in the north, Fillinges and Contamine-sur-Arve in the east, Scientrier and Reignier-Ésery in the south and Arthaz-Pont-Notre-Dame in the west.
history
The municipality of Nangy was already settled in Roman times, as various finds indicate. In the 13th century, Nangy was the center of a small government.
Attractions
The village church dates from the 17th century. The manor Château de Pierre is located southeast of the village. There is a wine museum in Nangy.

With 1618 inhabitants (January 1, 2017) Nangy is one of the smaller communities in the Haute-Savoie department. Since the beginning of the 1960s, there has been a continuous strong population growth. Numerous single-family houses were built outside the old village center.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Nangy was a predominantly agricultural village. Today there are various local small and medium-sized businesses as well as construction and trading companies. A commercial zone has developed near the motorway junction. Numerous workers are commuters who go to work in the larger towns in the area, especially in the Geneva-Annemasse area.
The village is on the main N205 road from Annemasse to Bonneville . The closest connection to the A40 motorway is around 2 km away.
