The District of La Roche-sur-Foron is a French administrative unit in the department of Haute-Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It comprises 27 municipalities from the arrondissements of Annecy , Bonneville and Saint-Julien-en-Genevois , its main town (French: bureau centralisateur ) is La Roche-sur-Foron . As part of the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons, it was significantly expanded in spring 2015.

The canton consists of 27 municipalities with a total of 53,254 inhabitants (as of 2017) on a total area of 277.75 km 2 :
Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of La Roche-sur-Foron included the nine municipalities of Amancy , Arenthon , Cornier , Etaux , La Chapelle-Rambaud , La Roche-sur-Foron , Saint-Laurent , Saint-Pierre- en-Faucigny and Saint-Sixt . Its layout corresponded to an area of 93.85 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 7417.
