geography

Saint-Laurent is located at 659  m , east of La Roche-sur-Foron , about 25 kilometers south-east of the city of Geneva (as the crow flies). The village extends from a panoramic location on a terrace on the lower northern slope of the Sur Cou (mountain peak of the Bornes Alps ), above the broad valley of the Arve , in the Pays Rochois.

The area of the 10.96 square kilometer municipal area covers a section of the northern Bornes Alps. The main settlement area is the approximately one kilometer wide terrace of Saint-Laurent (located around 200 m above the Arve valley). From here the community area extends southwards over a steep, densely wooded slope to the limestone peaks of Pointe de la Dent ( 1593  m ) and Sur Cou (at 1809  m the highest point in Saint-Laurent). In the east, the Borne river, which breaks through the northernmost chain of the Bornes Alps in the Gorges d'Eveaux , forms the municipal boundary .

  • Mornex ( 650  m )
