history
The place name goes back to the Latin word viculus , the diminutive form of vicus (village, homestead). In the Middle Ages Viuz-en-Sallaz belonged to the Faucigny domain. As part of the Dauphiné, the place came to France in 1349, but was given to the Counts of Savoy in an exchange of countries in the Treaty of Paris in 1355 . Thereafter Viuz-en-Sallaz shared the fate of Savoy . Already in the 15th century the place got certain freedom. In 1713 three hamlets were destroyed after a landslide caused by heavy rainfall.
Attractions
The large village church in neoclassical style dates from the 19th century. In the old town center, the center of which is a large square, numerous houses from the 16th to 19th centuries have been preserved. The Château de Presset and the remains of the Château de Marcossey are also worth seeing. The Ecomusée is located in a building from the 16th century. There are several chapels around Viuz-en-Sallaz, including those of Sevraz and Chez Pallud.

Economy and Infrastructure
Viuz-en-Sallaz was a predominantly agricultural village well into the 20th century . Today there are various local small and medium-sized businesses as well as construction and trading companies. Numerous workers are commuters who go to work in the larger towns in the area, especially in the Geneva-Annemasse area. In the last few decades the northern slopes of the Massif des Brasses (partly on the ground of Viuz-en-Sallaz) have been made accessible by mountain railways and ski lifts.
The village is very well developed in terms of traffic. It is located a little above the D907 road that leads from Annemasse to Taninges . Another road connection exists with Villard in the Vallée Verte.
