Amancy is a French commune in the department of Haute-Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes .
geography
Amancy is located at 466 m , east of La Roche-sur-Foron , about 20 km southeast of the city of Geneva (as the crow flies). The village extends on the southwestern edge of the broad valley plain of the Arve , below La Roche-sur-Foron, in the Pays Rochois at the northern foot of the Bornes Alps .
The area of the 8.62 km² municipal area includes a section of the lower Arve valley. The northern part of the municipal area is taken up by the plains of the Arve. Several streams, including the Foron and the Sion, drain the area to the Arve. To the south, the parish extends over a relatively gently rising slope to the edge of the Saint-Sixt terrace. Amancy's highest elevation is reached here at 624 m .
In addition to the actual village, Amancy also includes several hamlet settlements, namely (from west to east):
- Lavenay ( 510 m ) below La Roche-sur-Foron
- Arculinges ( 450 m ) in the Arve plain
- Vozerier ( 474 m ) east of the Foron at the foot of the Bornes Alps
Neighboring municipalities of Amancy are Arenthon in the north, Saint-Pierre-en-Faucigny in the east, Saint-Laurent , Saint-Sixt and La Roche-sur-Foron in the south and Cornier in the west.

Attractions
The village church of Amancy was built in the neo-Gothic style. Of the secular buildings, the Château Delavenay (16th century) in Vozerier and the Château de Carroz from the 17th century should be mentioned.

With 2665 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) Amancy is one of the smaller communities in the Haute-Savoie department. Since the beginning of the 1960s there has been a marked increase in population. Numerous single-family houses were built around the village and the former hamlets.
Economy and Infrastructure
Amancy was a predominantly agricultural village well into the 20th century . Today there are various small and medium-sized businesses. A commercial zone developed between Amancy and La Roche-sur-Foron. Many workers are commuters who work in the larger towns in the area, but especially in the Geneva-Annemasse area.
The place is well developed in terms of traffic. It is close to the N203 main road from Annecy to Bonneville . The closest connection to the A40 motorway is around five km away.
