La Riviere Enverse is a French commune in the department of Haute-Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes .
geography
La Rivière-Enverse is located at 645 m , northeast of Cluses , about 40 kilometers east-southeast of the city of Geneva (as the crow flies). The village extends slightly higher on the southern edge of the wide valley of the Giffre , in the Savoy Alps , in Faucigny .
The area of the 7.98 km² municipality covers a section of the Savoy Alps. The northern border runs along the Giffre, a right tributary of the Arve , which flows here in a wide and largely natural gravel bed from east to west. From the course of the river, the community area extends southwards over the floodplain and the alluvial plain, which is up to 2 km wide. This is followed by a continuously rising slope, which mainly consists of meadows in the lower part, but is wooded in the upper part. At the height east of Saint-Sigismond, the highest point of La Rivière-Enverse is reached at 1320 m .
La Rivière-Enverse includes the settlements of Cellières ( 650 m ) and Le Plan ( 650 m ), both on the southern edge of the Giffre valley, as well as numerous farms. Neighboring municipalities of La Rivière-Enverse are Taninges in the north, Verchaix and Morillon in the east, Arâches-la-Frasse and Saint-Sigismond in the south and Châtillon-sur-Cluses in the west.

La Rivière-Enverse became an independent municipality from Flérier in 1770.

In the course of the 20th century, the number of inhabitants decreased continuously due to strong emigration (in 1901 there were still 542 inhabitants in La Rivière-Enverse). Since the beginning of the 1990s, however, a significant increase in population has been recorded.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, La Rivière-Enverse was a village dominated by agriculture and forestry. Today there are various local small businesses. Many workers are commuters who work in the larger towns in the area.
The village is off the major thoroughfares on a connecting road that leads from Châtillon-sur-Cluses to Morillon. The closest connection to the A40 motorway is around 14 km away.
