Brizon even Brison written, is a French commune in the department of Haute-Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes .
geography
Brizon is located at around 1000 m , southeast of Bonneville , about 30 kilometers southeast of the city of Geneva (as the crow flies). The mountain village extends south of the Arve valley in the hollow of a tributary of the Bronze , in the northern Bornes Alps (part of the Savoy Alps ), in Faucigny .
The area of the 10.39 km² municipal area includes a section of the Bornes Alps. The northern border runs along the Bronze, a ravine-like side stream of the Arve that cuts into the surrounding area . From here the community area extends to the southwest, occupies the catchment area of the village stream of Brizon and extends to the wide saddle of Solaizon (around 1500 m ). This saddle is flanked in the north by the Pointe d'Andey ( 1877 m ), in the south by the limestone massif of the Rochers de Leschaux (at 1936 m the highest elevation in Brizon).
The settlement of Solaizon ( 1502 m ) on the high plateau of the saddle of the same name belongs to Brizon . Neighboring communities of Brizon are Bonneville in the north, Mont-Saxonnex in the east and Glières-Val-de-Borne in the west.
Attractions
Brizon's village church was built in the 19th century. In the old village center there are houses that show the typical architectural style of a Savoyard mountain village.

With 485 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), Brizon is one of the small communities in the Haute-Savoie department. In the course of the 20th century the number of inhabitants decreased continuously due to strong emigration (in 1901 there were still 598 inhabitants in Brizon). Since the beginning of the 1980s, however, a slight population increase has been recorded again.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Brizon was predominantly an agricultural village. Today there are various small business enterprises. Many workers are commuters who work in the larger towns in the area. In the last few decades Brizon has developed into a holiday resort and thereby received a significant economic boom. The municipality specializes in both summer tourism and winter tourism (cross-country skiing on the Solaizon plateau).
The village is very well developed in terms of traffic. The main access is from Thuet, east of Bonneville. Another road connection is with Mont-Saxonnex. The closest connection to the A40 motorway is around eight km away.
