Glières-Val-de-Borne is a French commune with 1,798 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Haute-Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Bonneville and the Canton of Bonneville .
It was created as Commune nouvelle with effect from January 1, 2019 by amalgamating the previous municipalities of Le Petit-Bornand-les-Glières and Entremont , which, however, were not granted the status of Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are located in Le Petit-Bornand-les-Glières .
geography
Glières-Val-de-Borne is located about 29 kilometers (as the crow flies) northeast of Annecy in the Savoy Pre-Alps , in the Bornes massif , which is crossed by the Borne river of the same name . The municipal area stretches from the main settlement in the valley floor on Départementsstraße D 12 to the mountain ranges with a height of up to around 2,400 meters. The community is also a popular ski area. Neighboring municipalities are: Saint-Pierre-en-Faucigny in the north, Bonneville and Brizon in the northeast, Mont-Saxonnex in the east, Le Grand-Bornand in the southeast, Saint-Jean-de-Sixt in the south, Les Villards-sur-Thônes and Thônes in the southwest, La Balme-de-Thuy and Fillière in the west, and La Roche-sur-Foron and Saint-Laurent in the northwest.
