In the far north, part of the Bois de Chaubon forest area also belongs to Peillonnex. From the valley basin, the community area extends southwards to the wide ridge of Peillonnex, on which the highest point in the community is reached at 753 m .

history
The municipality of Peillonnex was already populated in prehistoric times and during Roman times. The priory was founded in the 12th century and lasted until 1792. The place was devastated in 1536 as part of the conquest of the Bernese in Savoy.
Attractions
The former priory church Notre Dame de l'Assomption, which was built in the 12th century in the late Romanesque style, is an important sight . The church with its rich interior has a baroque choir; the choir stalls date from the 15th century. The convent buildings essentially date from the 17th century. There is a chapel in Senoche. Of the secular buildings, the Château Vuarchex from the 16th century should be mentioned.

Since the beginning of the 1960s, thanks to the beautiful residential area, a continuous strong population growth has been recorded. Numerous single-family houses were built outside the old village center.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Peillonnex was a predominantly agricultural village. Today there are various local small businesses. Numerous workers are commuters who go to work in the larger towns in the area, especially in the Geneva-Annemasse area.
The village is away from the major thoroughfares, but is still well developed. The closest connection to the A40 motorway is around seven km away. Road connections exist with Bonneville , Viuz-en-Sallaz and the other neighboring municipalities.
