The Communauté de communes des Montagnes du Giffre is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté de communes in the Haute-Savoie department , whose administrative headquarters are in Taninges . It includes the communities in the valley of the Giffre in the south of the Chablais and northeast of the former province of Faucigny . The community association founded in October 2012 consists of eight communities and has 11,970 inhabitants (as of 2015) on an area of ​​351.0 km ² , its president is Stéphane Bouvet.

tasks

The compulsory skills include the development and promotion of economic activities as well as spatial planning based on a Schéma de Cohérence Territoriale . The community association determines the housing construction policy and operates the garbage collection and disposal. In addition, the association builds and maintains cultural and sports facilities and promotes events in these areas.

The Le Grand Massif and Praz de Lys / Sommand ski areas are partly located in the area of ​​the association of municipalities and contribute significantly to tourism, which the individual municipalities and the lift operators are responsible for marketing (as of 2015).
