The Annemasse-Les Voirons-Agglomération is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté d'agglomération in the Haute-Savoie department , whose administrative headquarters are in Annemasse . Part of the 12 member municipalities lies on the border with the Swiss canton of Geneva and forms a contiguous settlement area with the suburbs of Geneva. The community association has 89,215 inhabitants (as of 2015) on an area of ​​78.2 km 2 . Its president is Christian Dupessey, Mayor of Annemasse.

history

The organization of cross-community tasks in the Annemasse area began in 1966 with the establishment of the SIVOM Agglomération Annemassienne . This was converted into a Communauté de communes in 2002 and comprised only six parishes in the direct vicinity of Annemasse. One year later, the communities on the western slope of the 1480  m high mountain range Les Voirons joined together to form their own community association, the Communauté de Communes des Voirons . At the end of 2007, the two municipal associations merged and took on the legal form of a Communauté d'agglomération.

The compulsory skills include the development and promotion of economic activities as well as spatial planning based on a Schéma de Cohérence Territoriale . The community association determines the housing policy. In environmental matters he operates the water supply, garbage collection and disposal, sewage disposal and is responsible for immission control and water maintenance in the basin of the Arve . He also runs the road maintenance service , rescue services and local public transport. He is also responsible for the expansion of the telecommunications and data transmission networks in his area.
