Saint-André-de-Boëge until 1935 Saint-André called, is a French commune in the department of Haute-Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes .
geography
Saint-André-de-Boëge is located at 735 m , about 20 kilometers east of the city of Geneva (as the crow flies). The scattered settlement community extends in the Vallée Verte in an open valley widening through which the Menoge flows, at the eastern foot of the Les Voirons mountain range in the north-western Savoy Alps .
The area of the 12.60 km² large municipal area includes a section of the Vallée Verte. The valley drained by the Menoge is oriented towards northeast-southwest and has a flat valley floor about 1 km wide at Saint-André-de-Boëge. To the east of this valley, the municipal area extends to the heights of Le Perret (up to 1031 m ) and to the south to Mont de Vouan . To the west, the municipality extends over a densely wooded slope subdivided by various erosion channels to the ridge of Les Voirons with the peaks of Le Pralère ( 1410 m ) and Pointe de Brantaz , on which at 1440 m the highest point of Saint-André- de-Boëge is reached.
Saint-André-de-Boëge includes numerous large and small hamlet settlements, including Chez les Reybaz ( 737 m ), Curseille ( 745 m ) and La Corbière ( 724 m ), all in the Menoge Valley. Neighboring municipalities of Saint-André-de-Boëge are Boëge in the north, Bogève in the east, Viuz-en-Sallaz and Fillinges in the south and Lucinges and Cranves-Sales in the west.
history
The town was probably founded in the 12th or 13th century after the monks of Saint-Jean-d'Aulps reclaimed the area. In 1867, the hamlets of Curseille and La Corbière, which had previously belonged to Fillinges, were reassigned to the municipality of Saint-André. By decree, the addition de Boëge was added to this name in 1935 in order to better guarantee the differentiation from other communities of the same name. With the canton of Boëge, Saint-André-de-Boëge moved from the Arrondissement Bonneville to the Arrondissement Thonon-les-Bains in 1939 .
Attractions
The village church of Saint-André was built at the beginning of the 19th century. In 1878 the Chapelle de Planet was inaugurated on the eastern slope of Les Voirons.

With 542 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), Saint-André-de-Boëge is one of the small communities in the Haute-Savoie department. Since the mid-1970s, the number of inhabitants has grown steadily.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Saint-André-de-Boëge was a village dominated by agriculture and forestry . Today there are various local small businesses. Some workers are commuters who work in the larger towns in the area, especially in the Geneva-Annemasse area.
The village is located off the main thoroughfares, but can be easily reached from Boëge, which is on a connecting road from Thonon-les-Bains over the Col de Cou to Fillinges .
