Lully is a French commune in the department of Haute-Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes .
geography
Lully is at 540 m , eleven kilometers southwest of the town of Thonon-les-Bains (as the crow flies). The village extends in Bas-Chablais, on a slightly elevated position west of the Ruisseau de la Gorge , at the northern foot of the foothills of the Alps in the area of the Col de Cou pass.
The area of the 4.86 km² municipal area includes a section of the Bas-Chablais with little relief. The plateau at Lully is generally slightly inclined to the northwest and is drained by the Ruisseau de la Gorge to the Foron, which flows into Lake Geneva at Sciez . To the north, the municipality extends into the extensive forests of the Forêt de Planbois . Above the village center, Lully's highest elevation is reached at 580 m .
The hamlets of Chez Jacquier ( 544 m ) and La Rochette ( 562 m ) on the plateau at the northern foot of the Tête du Char belong to Lully . Neighboring municipalities of Lully are Sciez and Perrignier in the north, Cervens in the east and Fessy and Bons-en-Chablais in the west.

The place name Lully is first mentioned in the 15th century. Originally the name goes back to the Gallo-Roman personal name Lullius and means estate of Lullius .
Attractions
The village church of Lully dates from the 19th century. Of the secular buildings, the Château de Buffavent (15th century) and the ruins of the Château de la Rochette should be mentioned.

With 701 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) Lully is one of the smaller communities in the Haute-Savoie department. In the last few decades there has been a continuous strong growth in the number of inhabitants.
Economy and Infrastructure
Lully was a predominantly agricultural village well into the 20th century . Today there are various local small businesses. Many workers are commuters who work in the larger towns in the area or in Thonon-les-Bains.
The village is located on the D903 connecting road from Saint-Cergues directly to Thonon-les-Bains. There are other road connections with Cervens and Fessy.
