Burdignin is a French commune in the department of Haute-Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes .
geography
Burdignin is located at 853 m , about 22 kilometers east of the city of Geneva (as the crow flies). The village extends in a panoramic location on a sun-exposed southern slope in the Vallée Verte, around 100 m above the valley floor, in the northwestern Savoy Alps .
The area of the municipality of 9.87 km² includes a section of the Vallée Verte. The southern and southeastern border runs along the Menoge , which drains the valley to the southwest to the Arve . The Menoge has a flat valley floor about 200 to 500 m wide. From the course of the river, the municipality extends northward to the adjacent wooded heights of the pre-Alps in the Chablais. The highest point of Burdignin is located at 1298 m west of the Tête du Char .
Various hamlet settlements belong to Burdignin, including Carraz ( 750 m ) in the Vallée Verte and Chez les Roch ( 1029 m ) on the southern slope above the village. The neighboring communities of Burdignin are Saxel and Fessy in the north, Habère-Lullin in the east, Villard in the south and Boëge in the west.
history
Burdignin formed the first parish in the Vallée Verte; the first church was probably built in the 6th century. The place name probably goes back to the Burgundian personal name Burdinus and means for the people of Burdinus . With the canton of Boëge, Burdignin moved in 1939 from the Arrondissement of Bonneville to the Arrondissement of Thonon-les-Bains .
Attractions
The current village church was built in 1861 in the neo-Gothic style on the site of the medieval church.

Economy and Infrastructure
Burdignin is still a predominantly agricultural village today. There are also various local small businesses. Some workers are commuters who work in the larger towns in the area, especially in the Geneva-Annemasse area.
The village is located off the main thoroughfares, but is easily accessible from Boëge and Villard, both of which are on the connecting road from Thonon-les-Bains over the Col de Cou to Fillinges .
