Thollon-les-Mémises until 1995 thollon called, is a French commune in the department of Haute-Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes .
geography
Thollon-les-Mémises is located at 922 m , 17 kilometers east of the city of Thonon-les-Bains (as the crow flies). The village, which has developed into a winter sports station in recent decades, extends in Chablais , on a high plateau at the northern foot of the Montagne des Mémises, high above Lake Geneva .
The area of the 13.78 km² municipal area covers a section of the northern Chablais Alps. The community area with strong relief extends from the Thollon plateau south to the limestone peaks of the Montagne des Mémises (up to 1686 m ). A narrow strip extends east into the densely forested area above Lake Geneva in the area of Pic de Blanchard ( 1472 m ) and Pointe de l'Aritte ( 1691 m ), which is divided by short erosion channels . The highest elevation of Thollon is reached on the Pic Boré at 1974 m .

With 793 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) Thollon-les-Mémises is one of the small communities in the Haute-Savoie department. In the last few decades, thanks to the beautiful residential area, a continuous strong growth in the number of inhabitants has been recorded. Numerous single-family houses and holiday apartments were built outside the old village center.
Economy and Infrastructure
Thollon-les-Mémises was a predominantly agricultural village well into the 20th century . In the meantime the village has developed into a winter sports station with numerous tourist facilities. A cable car leads up the mountain ridge of the Montagne des Mémises. To the south there is a ski area with several ski lifts.
The village is located away from the larger thoroughfares. Access is via a connecting road from Évian-les-Bains .
