Seytroux is a French commune in the department of Haute-Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes .
geography
Seytroux is located at 850 m , 18 kilometers southeast of the city of Thonon-les-Bains (as the crow flies). The mountain village extends in the central Chablais , in a left side valley of the Dranse de Morzine , in the northern Savoy Alps .
The area of the municipal area of 18.44 km² includes a section of the Vallée d'Aulps. The eastern border is formed by the Dranse de Morzine, which runs from south to north in a deeply cut valley here. The community area extends from this river to the southwest and covers the entire catchment area of the Seytroux stream. This wooded valley is bordered by the Pointe du Clocher ( 1492 m ) to the north, the Pointe de la Gay (at 1802 m the highest elevation in Seytroux) to the west and the Grande Pointe ( 1800 m ) and the Pointe des Bouts to the south ( 1704 m ) flanked.
Seytroux includes the hamlet settlements of Saint-Martin ( 840 m ) in the Vallée d'Aulps, Le Crêt ( 870 m ) and Les Meuniers ( 905 m ) in the Seytroux valley as well as various other hamlets. The neighboring communities of Seytroux are La Baume in the north, Le Biot and Saint-Jean-d'Aulps in the east and Bellevaux in the west.
history
Seytroux only became an independent municipality in 1837, before it belonged to Le Biot.
Attractions
The village church of Seytroux was built in the 19th century. There is a chapel in the hamlet of Saint-Martin.

With 513 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) Seytroux is one of the smallest communities in the Haute-Savoie department. In the second half of the 20th century the population remained at a constant level. Only since 2000 has a significant increase in the number of inhabitants been recorded.
Economy and Infrastructure
Seytroux is still a predominantly agricultural village today. The village is off the main thoroughfares, but is relatively easy to reach from the main road that leads from Thonon-les-Bains to Morzine .
