Bogève is a French commune in the department of Haute-Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes .
geography
Bogève is located at 917 m , about 22 kilometers east of the city of Geneva (as the crow flies). The village extends in the upper part of the valley of the Foron, at the northern foot of the Pointe des Brasses in the north-western Savoy Alps ; it belongs to the area of the Vallée Verte.
The area of the 7.00 km² municipal area comprises a section of the western Chablais Alps. The area is drained by the Foron and its source streams southwards towards the Arve valley. To the north, the municipal area extends over a wide saddle into the catchment area of the Menoge in the Vallée Verte. This saddle is flanked to the west by the hill Le Perret ( 1072 m ), to the east by the Plaine Joux forest ( 1313 m, the highest elevation in Bogève). To the east, the border runs on the ridge that separates the Foron Valley from the Vallée du Risse.
Community structure
In addition to the actual village center, Bogève includes various hamlet settlements, including:
- Les Chaix ( 970 m ) on the southern slope of the Perret

- Le Bosson ( 1020 m ) on the eastern slope of the Foron valley
- Chez Bouvier ( 960 m ) north of the Bogève saddle

With 1111 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) Bogève is one of the small communities in the Haute-Savoie department. Since the beginning of the 1980s, thanks to the beautiful residential area, there has been a continuous strong growth in the number of residents. Numerous single-family houses were built outside the old town center.
Economy and Infrastructure
Bogève is still a predominantly agricultural village today. There are also various local small businesses. Some workers are commuters who work in the larger towns in the area, especially in the Geneva-Annemasse area.
The village is located away from the major thoroughfares, but is easily accessible via a connecting road that leads from Viuz-en-Sallaz to Villard. Above the village, but no longer in the municipality of Bogève, are the winter sports facilities of the Massif des Brasses (mountain railway and ski lifts).
