The canton of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc was a French canton in the Haute-Savoie department until 2015 . It comprised four municipalities and bordered the canton of Valais in Switzerland and the municipality of Courmayeur in the Aosta Valley ; its main town (French: chef-lieu ) was Chamonix . The nationwide changes in the composition of the cantons resulted in its dissolution in March 2015. The last representative in the conseil général des Départements was Michel Charlet from 1982 to 2015.
