The district of Conchán is located in the province of Chota in the region of Cajamarca in northwestern Peru . The district was founded on October 13, 1891. It has an area of 153 km². The 2017 census counted 5643 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 5914, in 2007 it was 6459. The district administration is based in the 2400 m high village of Conchán with 496 inhabitants (as of 2017). Conchán is located 13 km north of the provincial capital Chota .
Geographical location
The district of Conchán is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the central east of the province of Chota.
The district of Conchán borders in the southwest on the district of Chota , in the northwest on the district Chiguirip , in the north on the district Tacabamba and in the east on the district Chalamarca .
