Constantin Guido von Podewils (born March 30, 1703 in Penken , † April 17, 1762 in Stettin ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

He came from the well-known noble family of Podewils , who lived in Pomerania . His parents were the royal Polish colonel and regiment chief of the Krongarde, as well as the heir to Penken and Dollstädt Ernst Bogislaw von Podewils and his wife Sabine Veronika, née von Weyher († 1739). Podewils was married to Countess Sophie Dorothea von Lehndorff (* January 24, 1720, † August 25, 1806) since 1743 .

Podewils began his career as a private corporal in the Holstein infantry regiment . In 1721 he became an ensign , in 1723 he was promoted to second lieutenant in the king's regiment , in 1734 he became a prime lieutenant and in 1738 a captain of the staff . In 1740 he was colonel and adjutant general of Frederick the Great and in 1742 commander of the "Hautcharmoy" infantry regiment . After his marriage, Podewils took part in the Second Silesian War and was wounded near Hohenfriedberg . In 1747 he was finally to major general, with patent from 1743, dimittierte but already in 1748 with supply .

Due to illness he was denied a real re-entry into the army , but in 1756 he became interim commander of Stettin. He remained in this place until his death. In 1757 he received the royal order, in coordination with President von Aschersleben, to set up a country militia with twenty battalions to ward off ongoing enemy incursions in Pomerania and the Uckermark .
