Daniel Carcillo (born January 28, 1985 in King City , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player of Italian descent who played 474 games for the Phoenix Coyotes , Philadelphia Flyers , Chicago Blackhawks , Los Angeles Kings during his active career between 2002 and 2015 and New York Rangers in the National Hockey League on the position of left winger . In the service of the Chicago Blackhawks, Carcillo won the Stanley Cup in 2013 and 2015 .

Career

Daniel Carcillo began his career as a hockey player in the Ontario Hockey League , in which he was active from 2002 to 2005 for Sarnia Sting and the Mississauga IceDogs . During this time he was selected in the third round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft as the 73rd player in total by the Pittsburgh Penguins , but from 2005 to 2007 he only played for their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins .

On February 27, 2007 Carcillo was given together with a third round suffrage Pittsburgh for the NHL Entry Draft 2008 in exchange for Georges Laraque to the Phoenix Coyotes , where he made his debut in the 2007/08 season in the National Hockey League . After two years with the Coyotes, Carcillo was transferred to the Philadelphia Flyers in March 2009 .

On July 1, 2011, he signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks . In July 2013, Carcillo was transferred to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for a six- round right to vote in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft , who in turn gave him in early January 2014 in exchange for a right to vote in the 2014 Draft to the New York Rangers . His contract in New York was not renewed after the end of the season, so that Carcillo was looking for a new employer as a free agent . In September 2014 he signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins a tryout contract (dt .: sample contract ), which allows it to participate in the pre-season the Penguins.

In Pittsburgh, however, Carcillo could not prevail, so he joined the Chicago Blackhawks in September 2014 and signed a one-year contract. At the end of the 2014/15 season he won the Stanley Cup again with the Blackhawks.

In September 2015, Carcillo announced the end of his playing career. From now on he would like to support ice hockey professionals in their withdrawal from professional sports, because in his opinion the problems occurring there (for example depression ) are not given sufficient attention by the NHLPA . The death of his long-time friend Steve Montador in February 2015, who suffered from depression and anxiety after an injury, played a special role .

International

For Canada , Carcillo took part in the U18 World Junior Championship in 2003 , where he and his team became world champions.
