Daniela Jordanowa ( Bulgarian Даниела Йорданова , English transcription Daniela Yordanova ; born March 8, 1976 in Slivnitsa ) is a Bulgarian middle and long-distance runner who appeared internationally, especially in the 1,500 meter run .

In 1998 she became Bulgarian champion in the 5000-meter run and the half marathon , and in 1999 in the 1500-meter run. From 1998 to 2000 she was also national indoor champion over 1500 m and 3000 m three times in a row .

In 2000 she was fifth in the 3000-meter run at the European Indoor Championships in Gent and tenth in the 5000-meter run at the Olympic Games in Sydney .

As a result, she focused on the middle distance. She took fifth place over 1500 m at the 2001 World Indoor Championships in Lisbon, the 2002 European Indoor Championships in Vienna and the 2002 European Championships in Munich. She was seventh at the 2003 World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis and fourth at the 2004 World Indoor Championships in Budapest. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, she achieved fifth place with a personal best of 3: 59.10 minutes and ran the 1500 meters for the first time in her career under four minutes.

After she failed in the preliminary round at the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005 , Jordanowa won the bronze medal at the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg. With 3: 59.37 min she stayed below the four-minute limit again and only had to admit defeat to the Russians Tatjana Tomaschowa (3: 56.91 min) and Julija Fomenko (3: 57.61 min). In the same year Jordanova was Bulgarian champion in the 10,000-meter run and again indoor champion over 1500 and 3000 meters in a detour into the long-distance area .

Jordanova achieved the most significant success of her career so far by winning the bronze medal in the 1,500 meter run at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka. She had originally reached the goal in 4: 00.82 min as fourth behind Maryam Yusuf Jamal , Jelena Sobolewa and Iryna Lishchynska . However, Sobolewa was subsequently disqualified for doping , so that Jordanova moved up one rank in the ranking.

At the World Indoor Championships in Valencia in 2008 , Jordanowa won the bronze medal over 1500 meters in a personal indoor best of 4: 04.19 min, behind Gelete Burka (3: 59.75 min) and Maryam Yusuf Jamal (3: 59.79 min). However, she again benefited from the subsequent disqualification of Jelena Sobolewas and Julija Fomenkos because of doping, which originally occupied the first two places.

On June 13, 2008, Jordanova was tested positive for testosterone during a doping control . As a result, she was banned from competitions for two years in August and her results were retroactively canceled at the time of the inspection.

Daniela Jordanowa is 1.68 m tall and weighs 50 kg.
