Danyo "Dibuba" Ilunga (born January 31, 1987 in Kinshasa ) is a German - Congolese K-1 fighter and former Glory heavyweight fighter. Ilunga is a four-time kickboxing and muay thai world champion and a former It's Showtime 95MAX world champion. On April 1, 2019, he was ranked number 10 light heavyweight in the world by Combat Press.

Life

Ilunga was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as one of seven children. His father, son of a tribal king, was an important politician. Due to the political persecution, his family fled to Germany. Ilunga graduated from vocational school in Cologne. He started martial arts in 2006 when he happened to be at the opening of the Iron Gym and Fighting Gym e. V. came. Since then he has been trained by Asmir Burgic and by three-time K-1 World Grand Prix winner Remy Bonjasky . Ilunga lives with his wife and children in Morsbach , near Waldbröl , where he grew up.
