Daseinstein (spelling: das einstein ) is a shopping center opened in 2009 at the intersection of Einsteinstrasse and Leuchtenbergring in the Munich- Haidhausen district . With a total of 18,000 m² of retail space, “Daseinstein” in front of the Hofstatt and the Fünf Höfe is Munich's largest shopping center within the Mittlerer Ring .

The anchor tenant of the shopping center is the largest European electronics retail chain, Media-Markt , which, according to its own information, operates its three-storey branch there, the world's largest branch with 10,000 m² of sales area and a range of around 100,000 products. Other main tenants are a 4,000 m² studio from Fitness First , an Edeka supermarket with 2,400 m² and a 1,000 m² “food court”. In the 5,000 m² office space in the house are u. a. since 2014 a day clinic of the Schön Kliniken specializing in psychosomatic therapy and since March 2015 a dental treatment center with an attached dental laboratory . A specialist medical center previously located there was closed in 2013 due to insolvency .

The opening of the shopping center on May 14, 2009 was also advertised for the 30th anniversary of the specialist retail chain Media-Markt. De facto, however, the first Media-Markt was only opened on November 24, 1979 in Munich's Euro-Industriepark . Long queues had already formed in front of the entrance doors before the opening at six o'clock in the morning, security forces and police officers secured the building against the expected mass onslaught. 200 nationwide employees who moved together supported the core workforce of 130 on the opening day.

Before it opened under the name “Daseinstein” in May 2009, the shopping center previously known as the “Stahlgruber Center” had been rebuilt for a year and a half by Pramerica Real Estate and Cells Bauwelt . Media-Markt was already the anchor tenant back then, albeit with an area of only 3,000 m². As part of the renovation, ¾ of the existing buildings were demolished and the S-Bahn station relocated.

At the beginning of 2018, the sales area will be expanded to include an 8,000 m² specialist shop from Zweirad-Center Stadler in the neighboring building.

Although the parking garage belonging to the shopping center with a total of 437 parking spaces is only used to 30% according to the operator, the shopping center leads to bottlenecks in terms of parking spaces in its vicinity, especially on Saturdays.

At the beginning of 2016, a consortium made up of the Danish Kirkbi Invest and the Munich project developer Cells Bauwelt bought the shopping center.
