Dassower See, Buchhorst and Graswerder islands (Plönswerder) is a nature reserve in the Schleswig-Holstein city ​​of Lübeck .

The approximately 800  hectare nature reserve is registered under number 12 in the directory of nature reserves of the Ministry for Energy Transition, Agriculture, Environment and Rural Areas. It was expelled in 1983 (date of regulation: February 7, 1983). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the city of Lübeck. The nature reserve is part of the FFH area “Traveförde and adjacent areas” and the EU bird protection area “Traveförde”. In the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania area , it borders on the nature reserve " Uferzone Dassower See ", from which it is practically enclosed. The “ Selmsdorfer Traveufer ” nature reserve also joins the Teschower Spitze . The nature reserve is looked after by the landscape conservation association Dummersdorfer Ufer.

The nature reserve is located east of Lübeck in the German Green Belt , which stretches along the former inner-German border . It protects the entire Dassower See , a bay of the Traveförde into which the Stepenitz flows in the east , and the two islands of Buchholz and Graswerder (also known as Plönswerder) and the narrow shoreline areas belonging to Schleswig-Holstein.

The bank zones and the two islands are occupied by reed areas . Along the shores of Lake Dassower also shore accompanying woody plants and are swamp forests to find. There are also trees on the island of Buchholz. Furthermore, dry grasslands and tall herbaceous meadows can be found in the nature reserve.

The Dassower See is the habitat of a species-rich avifauna . Over 90 breeding bird species and over 30 water bird species that use the water as resting and wintering quarters have been identified in the nature reserve . Due to the shallow depth of 2.2 to 3.2 meters, the Dassower See is well suited for diving ducks foraging . For example, the diving ducks, tufted , pochard and mountain ducks overwinter here . Other winter guests are z. B. dwarf and goosander , whooper swan , bean and white-fronted goose . For the goldeneye of Dassower lake is considered Germany's most important moulting area. The duck can be found in large numbers on the lake during the moult. Furthermore, here u. a. Native to the cormorant and the middle sawn. Pike , perch , aland and bream as well as river and sea ​​lamprey live in the lake . The herring visits the area to spawn .

In the nature reserve settle u. a. Strandalde, real celery , meadow fennel and spotted hemlock . The dry grasslands found on the island of Buchholz are habitat and a. of large fleas , pechers and pigeons .
