David Will (born March 21, 1988 in Bavaria ) is a German show jumper .

Career

Will comes from a horse-loving family, his parents run the Gut Ising riding stable in Chiemgau . At the age of nine he began to ride regularly and left high school after the 10th grade to complete an apprenticeship as a rider . He started this in Munich and later moved to Dietmar Gugler's stable in Pfungstadt. After completing his apprenticeship, he went to the Bundeswehr sports school in Warendorf for a year . Then he returned to Gugler's stable.

He won his first advanced level jumping test in Mannheim in 2010. In 2011 he was the most successful rider of the tournament at the CHIO Rotterdam . In 2012 he won the Nations Cup in Wellington (Florida) in the saddle of Don CeSar with the German team . In November 2012, Will won the Grand Prix of the CSI 4 * tournament Munich Indoors with Colorit . He also achieved third place in the overall ratings of the Riders Tour 2012 and the Riders Tour 2015 .

In October 2017, Will left Dietmar Gugler's stable. At first he ran a training and tournament stable in Herford together with Andreas Kreuzer . He has been working independently in Marburg- Dagobertshausen since the beginning of 2019 . Will achieved his greatest single success in July 2019 when he won the King Georges V Gold Cup at the CSIO 5 * Hickstead .

In 2012 Will was a member of the German B2 squad for show jumping. In 2013 he was accepted into the B-squad, which he was a member until 2016. In the world rankings, he was 69th in January 2015.
